Fred Solis
Past President
Fred serves as a director on the National Federation of Pachyderm Clubs Board and is the immediate past president of the Alamo Pachyderm Club. He is a graduate of the Masters Leadership Program of San Antonio as well as a graduate of the City of San Antonio Leadership Program and the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. In addition, he serves on several non-profit boards to include the 100 Club of San Antonio Executive Board, the San Antonio Council of Presidents, the U.S. Army Special Forces Association Chapter XV, life member of the U.S. Army Special Operations Association, and the University of the Incarnate Word Criminal Justice Board and is a Criminal Justice Adjunct Professor, School of Professional Studies, University of the Incarnate Word. As appointed by Texas Governor Gregg Abbot, he also serves as an Admiral of the Texas Navy Association.
Fred is a life-long public servant. Retired Colonel Fred Solis is a U.S Army combat Veteran, San Antonio Police Department Retiree, Chief of the Olmos Park Police Department, Bexar County District Attorney’s Office Special Crimes Investigator, and most recently, The Honorable Fred Solis retired as a Board Member, State of Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
Colonel Solis is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, earned a Master of Public Administration in Public Management degree, and is All But Dissertation Status (ABD) PhD, College of Education, Texas A&M University.
Fred is a grass roots Republican having overcome the challenge of growing up in a Democrat Family in Mercedes, Texas. While respecting and honoring his family elders as most Hispanic families do, he believes that most Hispanics are conservatives if they compare Hispanic family values with Republican values. He reminds Hispanics that the family elders are not present in the voting booth. As president of the Alamo Pachyderm Club he coined the tag “Cast an Informed Vote,” underscoring the public education goal of Pachyderm Clubs.
